NPA launches new and improved website

The NPA has launched a new website, which will deliverĀ an improved service to members, while also providing a more modern and accessible insight into the association and the pig industry for the wider world.

The new website contains all the most popular features of the previous site, including a regularly updated news section, the Members’ Area, the Forum and the Trade Directory, as well as briefings and guidance, and some new ones, including an in-depth hot topics section, a comprehensive ā€˜About Us’ section and dedicated areas for YNPA and vet student placements.

It has a new URL – www.nationalpigassociation.co.uk. However, the old URL will be redirected to the new site for a period of time too.

NPA Members will need to register and set their own password for access to the members’ area. Allied members will also be able to create a new Trade Directory listing when setting up their members area log in, which can then be managed from their profile. All members will be sent a link to set up their log in.

Modern site

NPA chief executive Lizzie Wilson said: ā€œWe are really excited to be able to launch our new website – and we hope you like it.

ā€œWe set out to modernise our website, which we all acknowledge had become outdated and didn’t deliver the functionality we needed, with something that looks good, is easy to use, contains all the updates and information our members need and presents the pig industry in best possible light to policymakers, the supply chain, the media and the general public. And it has the ability to evolve and grow, as we do.ā€

The new website and accompanying rebranding was developed by Coventry-based company Parallel Creative, following a competitive tender process.

The project has been driven by office manager Andrea Tranter, who said: ā€œIt’s been a long-time coming, but I, personally, am very excited and I think it’s going to make a big difference in how we communicate our key messages to members and the public.ā€

New features

New website features include:

  • A dedicated media section, including press releases and interview request pages.
  • An ā€˜About Us’ section, detailing what we do, and all the people involved at various levels with the NPA.
  • A brand-new key topics area, currently covering ASF, swine dysentery and farrowing systems. These will, of course, change over time.
  • A dedicated section for Young NPA.
  • A dedicated area for students looking for vet placements.
  • For external visitors, a frequently-asked questions section.
  • Allied members will see a much-improved page for the trade directory, which they will be able to manage themselves through their members’ area log in.
  • When the next NPA election comes around you will be able to submit your vote online, cutting down the need to print, scan and email or post your selections to us.
  • Members can manage your own Members’ Area access, and in time, will also be able to update personal contact records.
  • The new site allows for expansion and rapid changes, if ever needed, for example in the event of a disease outbreak.
