Cargill UK has strengthened its pig team with the addition of technical application specialist Dr Steven Laird and technical sales manager Gareth Penny.
Both have extensive experience in pig nutrition in the UK market. Steven is a monogastric nutritionist with a PhD in pig nutrition and more than 12 years’ experience in academic research and the commercial on-farm application of technical R&D with a national nutrition company.
His career includes designing and managing large-scale pig nutrition trials, while he also has extensive experience in formulating diets for commercial pig farms in the UK using the latest technological nutritional developments.
His new role is to support sales teams and their customers with bespoke diets and nutritional management and contribute to new product developments for the UK market.
Based in East Yorkshire, Gareth joins Cargill from a national pig breeding company. More recently, he oversaw gilt grow-out farms and delivered farm-based projects across Scotland and northern England. He has experience of achieving agreed performance indicators through unit management and nutritional programmes.
His new role in the Cargill UK team includes account management on pig units across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and providing technical support for products and services.
They join Tom Lovett, technical sales manager for south west England, and Bryony Bowman, technical sales manager for north east England and Scotland.
