Packington Pork, of Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire, has taken delivery of a Weidemann 3070 CX80 articulated wheeled loader from local dealer Hallmark Tractors because it offered high levels of manoeuvrability.
Established in 2002, Packington Pork operates five pig-breeding units spread across Staffordshire and Nottinghamshire, and the new Weidemann machine will be used on a growing unit where up to 5,000 piglets at any one time are reared to 40kg prior to moving to one of the company’s finishing units.
Packington’s pig production manager, John Clappison, says he was looking for a machine capable of negotiating the many tight turns and confined spaces within the various buildings on the unit and, following a couple of demonstrations, decided the 3070 model was the ideal tool for the job.
Weidemann’s 3070 loader is powered by a four-cylinder Deutz engine. Developing 80hp, it has the ability to lift 2,700kg to a maximum height of a little more than 5m.
The machine features a 100 lit/hr hydraulic system with proportional control for effective and precise use of the telescopic boom.
