🐷 PIG UNIT MANAGER / BREEDING SOW UNIT MANAGER 🐷

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Pig Unit Manager to take full responsibility for the breeding sow unit on our progressive indoor breed-to-finish pig farm.Classified

The unit has approximately 600 breeding sows and operates on a two-week batch farrowing system.

You will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the breeding sow unit, including:

• Managing and motivating staff

• Maintaining high standards of stockmanship and animal welfare

• Working to achieve and improve production targets

• Managing the breeding, serving, farrowing and weaning programme

• Ensuring the smooth running of our two-week batch farrowing system

• Maintaining high standards of hygiene, biosecurity and record keeping

• Ensuring the unit meets all Red Tractor requirements

• Monitoring performance and working closely with the wider management team

The successful applicant will ideally:

• Have previous experience working on a commercial pig breeding unit

• Have strong leadership and staff-management skills

• Be highly organised and capable of taking responsibility for the unit

• Have excellent stockmanship and a genuine commitment to animal welfare

• Be motivated, reliable and able to work independently

• Have a good understanding of modern pig production, performance targets and record keeping.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced person or someone ready to step up to a management position within an established and progressive pig business.
