UK clean pig slaughterings increased by 2.7% year-on-year in June to 846,000 head, while June pigmeat production, at 79,000 tonnes, was 2.1% up on June 2024.
The average weekly June slaughter figure of 197,000 head was 2.1% up on the May 2025 figure of 192,000 head, but 2.5% down on the April figure of 202,000 head.
Breaking the June UK slaughter figures down, 662,000 clean pigs were slaughtered in England and Wales, 18,000 in Scotland and 166,000 in Northern Ireland.
Average dressed weights for clean pigs were down 1kg year on year to just 90.1kg.
UK sow and boar slaughterings were down 22% year on year to 16,000 in June, a similar level to April and May.
UK slaughterings and pigmeat production have trending above year-earlier levels so far this year. During Q1 the UK clean pig kill was 5.5% up on Q1 2024, at 2.59 million head, while UK pigmeat production was 6.4% up on the same period a year ago.
