The first stage of pig and poultry feed manufacturer ABN’sĀ pioneering new animal nutrition complex is now in progress.
Having obtained planning permission to build a new compound feed manufacturing facility in the east of the country in 2023, the AB Agri monogastric business is now entering what it described as an exciting stage of progress for the project.
āIt is the ambition of ABN, to support the changing needs of our customers and ensure the security of the broader pig and poultry supply chain,ā explains Dino Kiriakopoulos, managing director of AB Agri Mono UK & IE.
As part of its approach to help build a responsible future, ABN said it was committed to investing in the growth of the animal feed sector in the UK.
āOur journey is just beginningā, Mr Kiriakopoulos added. āThe intricate process of building a pioneering new animal nutrition complex is a long-term project. I am delighted to announce that Access Stage 1 is now in progress.
āAt every stage of the process, we will be mindful of minimising the impact on the local community and working with our partners to ensure that we have an estate capable of meeting the future requirements of our industry.ā
Currently operating 10 manufacturing sites positioned across the country, ABN has a large share of the compound feed supply into the poultry, pig and layer industries.
It said the new development represents an important part of supporting its ambition for a net zero agricultural industry, with precision feeding and farm efficiencies as ‘the driving forces behind the future success of a responsible, productive and sustainable British pig and poultry sector’.
