AHDB is recruiting for a new pork sector director, after Angela Christision announced she would be leaving the role later this year.
Ms Christison, who made a personal decision to step down from the role after seven years, said it had been a ‘privilege to work with many fantastic people within the sector and at AHDB’ during her time, so far.
AHDB is currently advertising for a replacement, with a closing date of July 3.
AHDB’s pork sector director works closely with the sector chair, sector council, AHDB colleagues and stakeholders to deliver value from the levy. The position reports to the CEO and forms part of the leadership team within the organisation.
Pork Sector Chair, Glen Nimmo, said: “We’re looking for a passionate advocate with deep industry insight and a collaborative mindset to help us deliver real value to pig producers and processors.
“The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders, government bodies, and international partners to promote British pork, enhance market access, and support evidence-based decision-making through robust data and research.”
Commenting on departure, Ms Christison said: “I would like to thank everyone I have worked with during my time in the role, and will leave knowing that Glen, the Pork Sector Council and wider AHDB team are working on an agreed plan of delivery which builds on the excellent efforts to date.
“Highlights of the teams work in my time include the Feed Your Family for Less with British Pork campaign that achieved over 10:1 return on retail sales, work to optimise exports of British pork to new and existing global markets, and the all-important animal health and welfare and environmental work.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for someone with a passion for the sector to work on a wide range of domestic and international issues. It is a fascinating role, and I look forward to helping my successor during my remaining time at AHDB.”
Second departure
AHDB’s head of engagement for pork, Charlotte Evans, is also leaving AHDB, after three years in the role. She departs this month to take up an opportunity in the commercial sector, with her responsibilities being absorbed within the wider team.
AHDB thanked Ms Evans for ‘all her hard work helping to realise AHDB’s priorities for the pork sector’.
