Pig output up in Northern Ireland, down in Scotland

The output of the Northern Ireland pig industry increased by 14% to £132 million in 2013, according to provisional figures from the province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Total Gross Output for agriculture in Northern Ireland rose by 10% during the year to £1.9 billion.
In Scotland, meanwhile, provisional figures from the Scottish Government suggest the output from the pig industry was down
0.8% to £81.1 million.
