The 2024 National Pig Awards are now open for entries, giving individuals and businesses across the pig sector and chance to shine and earn recognition for their achievements.
The awards are now into their eleventh year and will continue to showcase the very best that the British pig industry has to offer, as it builds towards a better future, with the winners once again to be unveiled at a gala awards ceremony in London, in November.
The award categories will have a familiar look, covering pig production and rearing, stockpersonship, unit management, sustainability, marketing, innovation, pedigree breeding and the all-important allied sector.
Recent awards have seen many young winners recognised for their achievements, who have then gone on to make names for themselves in the industry. This year, as always, there be a strong focus on championing the young pig farmers and vets of the future.
The main award, Overall Pig Producer of the Year, won in 2023 by high-tech Northamptonshire pig breeding pioneers, Bridge House Farm, is again sponsored by principal sponsor, ForFarmers. It will be split into Indoor and Outdoor categories.
Stewart Houston will return as chair of our expert panel of respected industry judges for what will be his 10th year. Last year saw a record number of entries and Stewart said the quality was as high as ever, showcasing the breadth and depth of talent across the sector.

As well as 15 National Pig Awards, the event will also see the AHDB David Black Award and the NPA Chris Brant Award winners announced.

Awards night
Finalists will be invited to the awards night, which will bring the industry together for its biggest night of the year, featuring a sparkling champagne reception and gala dinner, with a special guest presenter.
It is always a great night to remember as the industry comes together to celebrate the industry’s champions and trendsetters.
