Speakers announced for online British Pig and Poultry Fair Forums

A number of leading speakers have been confirmed for the online Pig & Poultry Forums on Wednesday, May 12.

Topping the bill, the ever-popular Pig Outlook will give producers the chance to hear what key figures from different parts of the supply chain see as the challenges and opportunities ahead for the sector.

Sophie Throup, head of agriculture at Morrisons, will outline how the retailer sees the future of British pork on their shelves. She will be joined by Pilgrim’s agriculture director Andrew Saunders and an NPA representative, who will give the processor and producer perspectives, respectively.

“The outlook will give a valuable insight for anyone involved in the pork sector. Time spent taking part will certainly be well invested,” said AHDB Pork Board chairman Mike Sheldon, who will be chairing the session.

In a forum on optimising sow and pre-weaning piglet performance, Fair partners ABN will welcome Danish expert Chris Opschoor, from Topigs Norsvin, to share with producers how the nutritional needs of the hyper-prolific sow change with the productivity level. The session will also share some practical on farm management tips to drive productivity and get the best out of the herd.

Producers concerned about pig ammonia emission limits with the forthcoming changes to the Environmental Permitting Regulations, will not want to miss the AHDB-led session on the subjects.

Delegates will hear a key UK policy maker outline why air quality is important and detail what producers will have to comply with. Leading equipment suppliers will showcase ways producers can mitigate ammonia emissions on farm and help meet the regulatory requirements.

The online forums are free to attend and open to everyone in the pig supply chain. To find out more and secure your place visit  www.pigandpoultry.org.uk
