Premier Nutrition has improved its Atlas online platform, enabling nutritionists and formulators to quickly model changes in raw material nutrient composition and understand the wider implications for pig and poultry diets.
The new capability allows users to copy an existing raw material, adjust crude protein and automatically recalculate related amino acid values. These changes will automatically update both total and digestible amino acid values for pig and poultry applications.
The enhancement has been developed to support nutritionists during harvest analysis, when seasonal variation in cereals, beans and other raw materials can significantly influence diet formulation.
Dr Lorraine Salmon, Pig Nutritionist at Premier Nutrition, said: “Harvest results often reveal meaningful shifts in nutrient composition, but understanding the knock-on effects can be time-consuming.
“This new functionality helps nutritionists quickly assess how changes in crude protein may influence amino acid supply, giving greater confidence when formulating using new season raw materials.”
Used alone or alongside the Atlas diet checker, the tool can help users to identify opportunities presented by improved nutrient content, while also highlighting potential deficiencies that may require dietary adjustments.
Dr Alex Kemp, Poultry Nutritionist at Premier Nutrition, added: “Whether nutrient levels increase or decrease, nutritionists must understand the implications quickly. Being able to model these changes allows us to assess the impact on amino acids, helping to bridge the gap between laboratory analysis and practical formulation decisions.”
The company said better visibility of changing amino acid levels also helps nutritionists optimise nutrient utilisation, reducing the risk of oversupply, unnecessary nutrient excretion and avoidable feed costs, while maintaining animal performance.
The new nutrient modelling functionality is available exclusively to Premier Nutrition customers.
