The 2026 round of the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) is now open, enabling pig farmers to apply for grants towards a range of useful pig equipment.
Under FETF 2026, farmers can apply for up to three grants of between £1,000 and £25,000 – one each from the three grant themes: Productivity, Slurry and Animal Health and Welfare (AHW).
To apply for FETF you need to register or be registered in the Rural Payments service. You can use the Register and update your details with the Rural Payments Agency guidance to help you. When you have registered you will receive a Single Business Identifier (SBI).

All items must be new or ex display and must meet the relevant minimum specifications in each list.
Defra has calculated an expected average cost for each item, based on costs from a cross-section of suppliers. RPA will pay a grant amount of 40% or 50% towards either:
- The average cost of the item – if an item costs you the same or more than the expected average cost in the item lists, or
- The actual cost you pay for the item – if an item costs you less than the expected average cost in the item lists.
The scheme is competitive, meaning you may not receive any, or all, of the funding you apply for.
You can apply for FETF 2026 through the Farming Investment Fund service. The application window will close at midday on April 28.

Capital Grants
Defra has also announced that through Capital Grants in 2026, £225 million will be available to support farmers, land managers and rural businesses to deliver environmental improvements across England.
When the offer opens in July, Capital Grants will fund a range of items from hedgerow and tree planting through to works that improve water quality.
The full list of items will be published in May alongside the guidance ahead of the offer opening.
As last year, the items will be organised into the following groups:
- Boundaries, trees and orchards
- Water quality
- Air quality
- Natural flood management
- Assessments
- Improvements.
Funding limits will continue to apply to 4 of the 6 groups in the offer:
- £25,000 for the water quality, air quality, and natural flood management groups
- £35,000 for the boundaries, trees and orchards group.
