Slaughter and processing ends at Wiveliscombe

Karro Foods has ended slaughtering and butchery at its Wiveliscombe site and made 93 members of staff redundant.

The move followed the end of an employee consultation period that began back in September.

Karro is retaining 38 posts at Wiveliscombe, all of which will be involved with the firm’s foodservice operation. This is 20 more than was suggested when it was first announced that the slaughter operation at the site could be shut down.
