Pig producers in Wales are being given the opportunity to have their own profile page on a new website being launched by the Welsh meat promotion body, Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC).
Details of the new site will be unveiled during next week’s Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) spring festival in Builth Wells, where HCC will be running a series of seminars under the heading “Profiting from Pigs” while also promoting the quality of pork from Wales.
“The new website is part of our plans to increase awareness of pork suppliers in Wales and the quality of their products,” said HCC’s market development officer, Melanie Hughes. “It will offer producers an opportunity to build their online presence and will be a starting point for customers who are looking to source locally produced pork.”
The spring festival seminars, meanwhile, delivered in partnership with Farming Connect and the RWAS, will cover topics including pig health, artificial insemination and adding value through direct sales. The series is designed to be suitable for large and small scale producers alike.
The spring festival takes place on May 16 and 17 at the Royal Welsh Showground.
