Independent animal feed manufacturer Harbro has continued its retail expansion with the acquisition of RH Miller Agriculture Limited, which operates on three sites at Dalkeith (Fordel), Peebles and Hawick in the East of Scotland.
The deal, which takes effect from August 12, will compliment Harbro’s existing stores at Duns and Earlston to give the company complete geographical coverage throughout the Borders, and will bring the total number of its Country Stores in Scotland to 18.
“This is another exciting move for Harbro, adding three retail premises and strengthening our retail division,” Harbro managing director Graham Baxter said. “It will further complement our feed business in the Borders, allowing us to offer animal health advice and products, clothing and equipment to our growing customer base.”
Customers at the new stores will also benefit from the full range of products offered by Harbro’s mill at Birkhill, south Lanarkshire. In close proximity to the Borders, it’s ideally located to serve the area, giving the benefits of reduced transport costs and the delivery of compounds, blends, feed buckets, mineral licks and feed blocks straight from the point of manufacture.
“This acquisition is a natural fit to our business and customers will benefit from increased choice, performance products, value for money and purchasing direct from a primary manufacturer, based in the south of Scotland,” Mr Baxter added.
