AHDB has have secured a number of 12-month licences for pig farmers to access the advanced Biocheck tool – a biosecurity assessment that supports disease prevention on farms.
The tool is intended for farms of all sizes and vets in practice and plays a vital role in strengthening farm-level biosecurity. It enables producers to benchmark biosecurity performance while also contributing to a national biosecurity figure for England that will be published in early 2026.
The NPA is encouraging all producers to take advantage of this opportunity. It said: “Strengthening biosecurity is a shared priority across the sector, and tools like advanced Biocheck help ensure we’re all working from a consistent, evidence-based foundation.”
AHDB urged producers to get ahead of the game and make the most of this opportunity while it is free, saving €380/year.
Benefits for Pig Producers:
- Individual biosecurity feedback at a farm level
- Biosecurity score so that you can benchmark yourself
- This is an ideal opportunity to ensure you are well prepared
How it works:
- Pig Producers, speak to your vet and encourage them to apply for a Biocheck advanced account by contacting us via email at pig.health@ahdb.org.uk to receive a unique code.
- With this code, vets can register at https://biocheck.ugent.be and begin completing farm surveys – on farm with the producer – either online or via paper forms (which must be uploaded).
- Once the survey is submitted, an advanced report will be available, offering tailored recommendations to improve on-farm biosecurity.
- All data will be analysed in early 2026 to produce an industry-wide report highlighting good practice, areas for improvement, and future recommendations.
