Pig Stockperson Wanted – Mixed Family Farm Opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable Pig Stockperson to join our small, dedicated team on a family-run mixed farm based in YO43.
About the Farm:
- 400-sow closed herd operating on a 3-week batch system
- Farrowing 52 sows per batch
- Modern housing throughout
- Producing approximately 200 bacon pigs per week
- Dry sows kept in straw yards and all wet-fed
- Farrowing and finishing units are fully slatted also wet-fed
The Role:
You will work alongside our existing team, carrying out day-to-day pig husbandry duties across the unit. This is a hands-on role, and we are looking for someone confident and happy working with pigs. You will also be required to take responsibility for overseeing the farrowing and grower-finisher sections when needed, including providing cover while the manager is on holiday.
Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- A great awareness of the welfare of the pigs
- Experience with computerised feeding and recording programs
- Tractor driving experience and a forklift certificate
- Experience with general farm maintenance is preferred
Hours & Benefits:
- 39 hours per week, with overtime available
- One weekend in three (mornings only)
- Wages negotiable depending on experience
