AHDB has confirmed it will not be developing a new price series to replace the All-Pig Price (APP), for now at least.
The APP showed the average price paid to producers in GB for clean pigs, incorporating both standard and non-standard pigs, so, unlike the standard pig price, it included RSPCA Assured outdoor-bred and -reared pigs.
AHDB stopped publishing the APP in January 2025 due to consolidation within pig marketing groups. Data for the APP was supplied by six marketing groups, two of which, TVC and Scotlean, merged with Scottish Pig Producers, to form the United Pig Cooperative at the start of the year.
The Pork Sector Council decided not to replace it following discussion with stakeholders to explore the demand for establishing a new weekly average price for all UK pigs. This would have been based on statutory data from abattoirs and supplemented the existing Standard Pig Price (SPP) and UK reference prices.
Overall, the views on the proposal were mixed with most stakeholders indicating that the APP had limited use. There has been no significant demand for this type of data since AHDB stopped publishing it.
The council has decided, however, that it will put in place a review in spring 2026 to reassess market needs and potential demand for an alternative price series.
