The NPA has produced a ‘Mental Health Matters’ poster to support people across the pig industry struggling with their mental health, particularly as a result of animal rights activity.
The initiative came out of a discussion at the latest NPA Pig Industry Group (PIG) meeting about the mental health strains many producers and their employees find themselves under, including the pressures linked to the recent rise of animal rights activity targeting pig farms.
“NPA PIG felt that often the business owners themselves are supported whilst their teams can struggle in the aftermath. Therefore a poster with the relevant contact information that could be displayed in staff rooms for example, was suggested,” NPA chief executive Lizzie Wilson said.
The poster includes contact information for the various charities that offer support for farmers and people living in rural areas.
