Q2 eMB Red Tractor deadline approaching as new features announced

The next Red Tractor deadline for submitting antibiotic data onto the eMB-Pigs database is rapidly approaching.

Producers are reminded that the deadline for getting data from second quarter of 2018 onto the system is August 11, now just a over two weeks away.

The deadline for quarter 1 passed on May 12 and Red Tractor producers are also being urged they ensure they have submitted this data. Failure to upload this information can result in a non-conformance for those assessed under the Red Tractor Pigs Scheme.

During the period from November 11, 2017 to July 11, 2018, 9% of Red Tractor producers were issued with a non-conformance for failure to submit data in time for their inspection. However, Red Tractor is stressing that this data should still be entered as it contributes to the national antibiotic reporting system.

Red Tractor are also reminding producers that they must continue to enter the total amount of antibiotics used in each quarter on an on-going basis. Submissions must be completed even if your antibiotic usage was zero during a quarter.

Coming deadlines:

Q3 2018: November 11, 2018.

Q4 2018: February 11, 2019

Q1 2019: May 12, 2019

Q2 2019: August 11, 2019

New Features

A number of new features are due to be launched on eMB to make data entry simpler and allow producers to do more with their data.

You may see some pop up boxes when you next enter data. These alert producers that data they have entered is substantially different to that of the same holding in previous quarters. This should help reduce input errors.

You can now use the  eMB benchmarking facility to compare your usage to other farms in the same holding category. This is accessed from the main eMB dashboard https://emb-pigs.ahdb.org.uk

During a quarter, benchmarking will be provisional until the end of that quarter and all producers have entered data. This is because as more producers enter data, the average will change. At the end of the quarter, the averages will be finalised and producers will see their definitive position compared to others in the same production category.

Alerts will appear to indicate if you are in the lowest 25% of users, middle 50% or highest 25% of users. If you are in the highest 25% you will receive a note with contact details of your AHDB KE Manager should you wish to discuss this with them. However, if you are in this high user group, AHDB recommends that in the first instance you speak with your vet.

Finally, for vets and corporate groups, there will be the option to run a group report. This will allow, where appropriate authority from producers has been given, further analysis to be performed. The named groups will only be visible to the Pig Hub username that created them and if a producer has not granted permission for data sharing, data will not be shared.
