Auctioneer Peter Crichton reported there were 60 registered buyers when 1,300 lots came under the hammer at Stamper Farms’ dispersal sale on December 6.

Although this sale on the former 1,100-sow outdoor unit at Barnham, Norfolk, took place so late in the year, the bitterly cold but bright sunny day meant there were dry ground conditions. With a number of options on the larger groups of lots, an overall selling average of 260 lots per hour was achieved.

Leading prices for machinery included a 2004 John Deere 6220 with Loader and 8,815 hours on the clock at £14,800; a 2002 JCB 526-S Telehandler at £13,000; and a 2004 John Deere 6220 with Loader and 11,200 hours at £9,950.

A wide range of associated equipment included Morgan Hydralift trailers selling at £4,100 and £3,600; 3t Peter Allen Rotafeeders at £1,800 and £1,500; a farm-made transtacker at £420; a bale chopper at £380; and a tandem-axle bowser at £1,250. A selection of farrowing paddock feed trailers sold for between £280 and £320, and a 5t dump trailer £400.

Eight Rowland 16t drive-under bulk feed bins (pictured) met a wide range of prices according to condition from £320 to £1,500, to average £675 each.

Stacks of mini Hesston barley and wheat straw bales sold to a local farmer between £170 and £280 per stack.

A huge selection of outdoor pig housing sold according to condition and age and the sale was headed by 34 John Harvey 24ft Jumbo dry sow arcs meeting a strong enquiry and selling from £560 to £690, to average £640.

Older Robusta farrowing arcs and Overton 10ft arcs were in generally poorer condition with the Overton arcs selling to £70 each, but the majority between £25 and £50 each. The Robustas sold at between £80 and £160 each, and 42 Davidson weaner arcs needing some repair sold for between £100 and £160 each to average £132.

Outdoor pig tents met plenty of demand with a Warkup AI service tent selling for £2,000 and a range of Morgan 32ft x 16ft tent frames with covers selling for between £280 and £330 each.

A huge selection of over 250 farm-built three-ring insulated farrowing arcs looked good value as far as buyers were concerned with as wide range of prices of between £50 and £200 and an overall average of £65.

280 fenders saw galvanised drop fenders making up to £25 each with painted fenders generally selling for between £8 and £20 each, according to condition.

A selection of square galvanised framed piglet drinkers sold well and fetched between £260 and £300 each, while wallow troughs realised between £20 and £45, and sets of wooden clad 8ft hurdles realised between £25 and £50. Metal hurdles fsold rom £60 to £115 per set.

A large selection of useful and smaller sundry items saw bundles of galvanised electric fence posts with insulators selling to £160 (£1.60 each) and iron electric fence posts with insulators sold in batches of 100 for between £70 and £115 per lot.

Electric fencing wire worked out between £15 and £17 per reel and electric fencing units included battery fencers selling for between £30 and £50 and mains fencers at £100.

Other sundries included a digital scanner selling at £340, sectional steel pig stockades sold from £75 to £1,300, according to size, a Cash humane killer for £340 and assorted feed troughs to £25.
