Cargill to promote new feed additive ConverMax at Pigs Tomorrow

Cargill will present its new feed additive ConverMax, which promotes well-being and improves feed efficiency in finishing pigs, at next week’s Pigs Tomorrow event.

Maisie Lord, Cargill’s UK pig nutritionist, said ConverMax’s blend of botanical extracts combined with a high-quality mineral source is added to finisher diets.

Cargill trial results across Europe have shown an average improvement in feed conversion ratio of 0.1 point where ConverMax has been included in diets. This added an average of £2.38 per pig to profitability, and a return on investment of more than 3:1, depending on feeding strategy and farm system.

The trials also recorded a lower than usual incidence and severity of skin lesions and second grade carcasses.

Ms Lord added: “ConverMax has a calming effect on the pigs. This encourages better feed utilisation, with more energy from feed being used for growth.”

  • There are still places available for the pig industry event of the year. Pigs Tomorrow, jointly organised by Pig World and AHDB, will take place at the Jurys Inn hotel, near Hinckley, in Leicestershire, on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 14 and 15). To register, click HERE.
