The home of pork pies is hosting a festival dedicated to all types of hot pies, cold pies, dessert pies and gluten-free pies. The Melton Mowbray PieFest is taking place on July 29 and 30, at Melton Mowbray Cattle Market and will celebrate the UK’s amazing variety of pies.
A number of the UK’s awarding-winning pie makers will be at the event selling their pies, including past Supreme Champions of the British Pie Awards.
2013 Great British Bake Off winner Frances Quinn will be appearing in the ‘Pie Theatre’ at 1pm each day to demonstrate one of her favourite, classic pie recipes.
The Pie Theatre programme also includes talks on How to Rate a Pie, a demonstration of hand raising a Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, and a Pie Panel that will discuss your pie and pastry woes and queries.
“There could be no other venue for PieFest, a national celebration of pies, other than in Melton Mowbray. It’ll be a cracking weekend and we’ve even got a few coaches booked to come,” said organiser Matthew O’Callaghan.
