A number of new faces have been elected to sit on the NPA two representative bodies. The NPA elections saw members select new representative for its decision-making Producer Group and the Allied Industry Group from a field of 31 candidates. Voting closed last Friday.

PRODUCER GROUP

There will be three new faces on the 12-strong NPA Producer Group.

Vicky Morgan, from the Northern region, Tom Allen, who replaces his father, Charlie, in the South Central region, and Steve Hart, from the Eastern region, join nine producers who retain their position on the group. They include NPA chairman for the past three years, Richard Lister, and vice chairman Richard Longthorp.

Here is the full list of successful candidates:

  • Tom Allen * (South Central)
  • Andrew Freemantle (South West)
  • Sam Godfrey (Midlands)
  • Simon Guise (East)
  • Steve Hart * (East)
  • Sophie Hope (South West)
  • Richard Lister (North)
  • Richard Longthorp (North)
  • Vicky Morgan * (North)
  • Rob Mutimer (East)
  • Sally Stockings (South West)
  • Phil Stephenson (North)

* New to PG

They will serve three-year terms. The results mean there are now four producers from the North Region, three from the East, three from the South West, two from South Central and one from the Midlands.

ALLIED INDUSTRY GROUP

There are also seven new faces on the 10-strong Allied Industry Group (AIG). They will also serve for three years. Here is the full list:

  • Oliver Bown * (TVC)
  • Hugh Crabtree (Farmex)
  • Simon Davies (Meadow Quality)
  • Laura Hancox  * (Zoetis)
  • Lydia Harrison * (Huvepharma)
  • Paul Hutton * (Collinson)
  • Michelle Sprent * (Premier Nutrition)
  • Gemma Thwaite * (Garth Pig Practice)
  • Paul Toplis (Primary Diets)
  • Jen Waters * (Tulip Ltd)

* New to AIG.

NPA chief executive Zoe Davies congratulated all the successful candidates. She said: “I am delighted that we have got two really strong teams to represent the pig industry and help us formulate policy over these next three critical years.

“We’ve got a really good mix of people that bring with them a range of expertise that will stand the NPA in good stead.

“Thank you to everyone who put themselves forward and offered their service to the industry. All of the candidates had such a passion for the pig industry and a desire to help it realise its potential and it was great to see so many people willing to get involved.

“Thank-you also to everyone who voted – we had a healthy response, ensuring our new representatives have a real mandate.”

New officeholders will be elected shortly.
