The Goodwood Estate, renowned for its racing associations, has now added a top award for the home farm’s organic pork belly, which recently gained a 3-star rating in the Great Taste 2016 Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food.
“This is an excellent example of Old Spot/Saddleback pork roast,” said the awards judging panel, who only granted 141 ratings in the exclusive 3-star bracket, out of this year’s total of 10,000 entries.
The judges also said: “The meat is full of flavour with unctuous melt in the mouth fat. It carves beautifully, melts off the bone, is very rounded and has a big flavour. The dark meat is very succulent, moist and full flavoured, a real Sunday lunch treat.”
