AHDB is has launced a survey to gather views from across the pig sector to inform a strategic review of industry training.
The review will aim to determine how best to support the industry’s workforce with the skills and behaviours needed for the decade ahead.
“The English pig industry is changing quickly, driven by new technology, tighter welfare standards, evolving consumer expectations and increasing regulation,” AHDB said.
“To make sure it’s equipped for what’s ahead, we’re reviewing training across the pig sector, of which this survey is part. This independent review for AHDB will identify future skills needs and highlight where new or better training is required.
“It will also explore how the sector can attract and retain new talent, including opportunities to strengthen apprenticeship pathways and promote pig farming as a modern, rewarding career.”
