We’re recruiting for a Finishing Pig Unit Manager for a farm in Oxfordshire.
Our client operates an outdoor mixed farming enterprise with multiple sites.
The Finishing Pig Unit Manager is a key position at their flagship finishing site. The role is responsible for all areas of pig finishing performance and welfare on a 950-sow outdoor breeding unit.
Job description:
- Manage all unit staff
- Responsible for the health and condition of livestock
- Ensure that high animal welfare standards are maintained at all times in accordance with Company policies (Red
- Tractor Assured, RSPCA Assured, customer-related audits and the five freedoms in respect of animal welfare)
- Work with your team and the breeding unit to meet agreed performance targets, managing the performance of finishing staff and pig production to bring about the best results
- Ensure that all equipment/farm machinery is used safely and is maintained in good condition at all times in accordance with Company health & safety policies.
- Support staff to understand the importance of biosecurity and security of the unit
- Manage and complete weekly reports and keep records up to date at all times
- Accurately record and administer medications and be alert to changes of health.
Salary: £35,000 – £48,000 DOE
