We are recruiting for an Outdoor FARROWING AREA MANAGER to join a 1,000 sow breeding herd in Suffolk IP19
Blythburgh Pigs is a family run free range pig farm based on the North East Suffolk coast. We farm two 1,000 sow outdoor breeding herds and finish pigs in a free range system all the way to slaughter. The business has over 40 years’ experience farming pigs, spanning two generations, and our continued investment in genetics has led to our pork being sort after by some of the very best butchers and chefs in the UK.
Our breeding herds operate on a weekly system with a team of four people on each site.
A successful applicant for this role would be expected to, on a day to day basis, run the farrowing area with the support of another farm worker and play a leadership role in the running of the whole unit (particularly when the unit manager is on holiday).
Person specification:

- Experienced working specifically in farrowing.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger farm picture.
- Ability to operate a telehandler.
Hours:
- 40 hour week with flexibility around doing the job properly.
- Weekends – one weekend off, one weekend on.
- Bank holidays, whole team in to get the job done quickly (then either Christmas Day or New Years Day).
Other Information:
- We do offer a performance related bonus.
- We have no accommodation so applicants must be able to commute to IP19.
- We can only accept applications from UK or EU nationals with the right to work in the UK.
