While at EuroTier in Hanover, Germany, November 15 to 18, Cargill will focus on new developments, nutritional solutions, and supporting producers.
With the swine sector facing a slew of challenges, industry focuses are shifting from animal health, performance and economics, to now include farm emissions and animal welfare too.
As such, at EuroTier, Cargill will be showcasing many of its nutritional solutions for pigs; many of which are proving to increase welfare while increasing pig performance and reducing emissions.
The brand will also be hosting a number of workshops for EuroTier visitors to attend.
BehavePro
BehavePro from Cargill is a nutritional solution that promotes a calming effect on pigs. During a trial, a 600-sow indoor unit was fed BehavePro at the recommended dosage, upon which sow mortality was reduced by 50% and farrowing rates improved by 1.5%. When fed to pigs through water, BehavePro has had natural calming effect on pigs within 48 hours of application.
LivaPig
Cargill’s LivaPig is a mineral feed solution which increases blood and oxygen supplies around the body. When fed to gestating and lactating sows it can increase the blood supply in reproductive tissues, which allows more oxygen and nutrients to pass across the placenta to the piglet.
European performance trials of LivaPig, when included within sow diets, has been shown to reduce stillbirths by 1.34% and piglet mortality by 1.53% per sow; livability has also improved by 3.2% and average weaning weight increased by 540g per piglet. LivaPig has also been shown to improve colostrum quality and reduce farrowing times.
Neopigg Shield
The Neopigg Shield nutritional program promotes healthy growth in piglets and reduces digestive disorders while reducing farm reliance on antibiotics and therapeutic zinc. During trials, more than 55,000 piglets benefitted from the inclusion of Neopigg Shield in diets; piglets fed Neopigg Shield in the weaner diets maintained an advantage throughout the weaning period and achieved an increase in average daily liveweight gain of 24g per pig and were almost 1kg heavier at end weight compared with the control.
Provisoy
Provisoy is a soy protein specialist gut health solution that helps to mitigate gastrointestinal problems during weaning. Its high enzyme accessibility improves digestion in the gut, leaving less undigested protein to enter the hindgut where it risks fermentation by harmful bacteria.
Cargill meta-analysis shows that Provisoy improves stool quality by 30% and improves litter uniformity. Average daily weight gain in young pigs 5-40 days post-weaning was shown to improve by 11%.
