About Wayland Farms:

Wayland Farms Ltd are a pig production company who are passionate about breeding and nurturing the best pigs in the country. We form part of the successful Cranswick Plc., one of the largest food producers in Britain.

We are seeking a Senior Pig Breeding Manager, reporting to the Operations Director and based at our head office in Watton.

Job requirements of Pig Breeding Manager:

  • Responsible for the successful Pig Breeding operations within Wayland Farms with units across East Anglia (approx. 50 staff across 16 units)
  • Lead and direct the Breeding Group Managers and Unit Managers to ensure effective day to day management of the units
  • Budgeting and cost control to ensure efficient operational management
  • Ensuring all units are adequately staffed at all times, resourcing units in line with demand
  • Ensuring Animal welfare and Health & Safety is adhered to at all times within the teams
  • The management, performance and reporting of the units against targets
  • Leading by example and maintaining appropriate behavioural standards for self and team
  • Ensuring that the five freedoms in respect of animal welfare are prioritised
  • Liaising with HR for formal people management processes

 

What you will need:

  • Significant knowledge and experience of all stages of the pig breeding process
  • Highly experienced in people management and able to lead by example
  • Commercial acumen and ability to manage budgets and control costs

 

Pay and benefits:

  • Salary – £competitive and bonus potential
  • Pension – 3% employer contributions/5% employee contributions, increasing to 5% employer contributions after 1 year’s service
