An enthusiastic, pro-active and responsible person is required to manage a new 1000 sow outdoor pig unit producing 7kg weaners near Malton.

This is an exciting opportunity to help set up and take over the management of a herd of 1000 sows which we would look to expand to 1500 sows over the next 2 years.  You would play a key role in facilitating and planning the expansion of the herd as well as being responsible for the day to day management of the herd.  You will be working with a professional and innovative team within a successful pig business.

The key responsibilities of this role are as follows:

Responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of an outdoor pig breeding unit.
Ensure efficient management of pig production costs.
Ensure welfare code, health and safety, and quality assurance requirements are always met.
Regular communication with senior management
Keep in touch with new developments and ideas within the Pig Industry.

Previous experience working on a pig breeding farm or within a practical role in the pig industry
Good understanding of pig husbandry and excellent stockmanship skills
Self-motivated and a desire to achieve excellent results
Excellent communication skills
Previous experience with outdoor pig production would be beneficial but not essential.

Good remuneration package and performance related bonuses.
